The Institute, affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, is currently running the regular four Years B.Pharma Program.
B.Pharma Program is running on semester basis. In addition to regular semesters three mid-term exams are conducted during each semester to continuous evaluate the performance of the students.
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with Mathematics, Biology subject.
Pharmacy is an age old profession which has transformed into a hub for “Global Healthcare” and evolved as a multidisciplinary and multifaceted field in recent times. Pharmacy revolves around people and medicines with special emphasis on the manufacture of medicines, their supply, appropriate use and effects. It is the science of formulating and dispersing medicines. A candidate pursuing pharmacy needs to link and achieve a balance between the health and chemical sciences. The scope of the subject is never dying since it finds its use in the day to day life. Pharmacy is a versatile, dynamic, growing, and increasingly diverse profession, one which creates excitement because there are so many opportunities for service. The pharmacy profession comprising the industrial and practice sectors is undergoing a rapid change. Pharmaceutical industry and practice sectors need clinically and technologically trained pharmacy professionals who can face global challenges and compete with the multinationals.
The institute is having fourteen labs including AC instrumentation room and machine room. All labs are well equipped with sophisticated instruments including UV spectrophotometer, HPLC, multi-station Franz diffusion cell assembly, Brookfield Viscometer,Tablet Compression Machine, I-disso Electrolab etc.
Pharmaceutical chemistry is the study of drugs, and it involves drug development. This includes drug discovery, delivery, absorption, metabolism, and more. There are elements of biomedical analysis, pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics. Pharmaceutical chemistry work is usually done in a lab.
Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology Laboratory. … The laboratory’s rapidly expanding test menu includes routine assays for drugs that are also offered by other clinical laboratories but its primary focus is on drugs for which therapeutic drug monitoring is not available anywhere else.
The Pharmacy Practice Lab is used by students to practice and master their drug compounding and preparation skills in various dosage forms, including the injectables before entering the workforce. A new cleanroom facility is included in this lab.
In Pharmacognosy lab we study the different parameters of crude drugs like there biological source ,active chemical constitunets , morphological and microscopical character evalutions and uses. In this subject we also study the cultivation , collection and prepartions of crude drugs.
The laboratory is designed to provide a foundation in human biology. This includes the knowledge of basic anatomical and histological organization of the human body and its physiology. Students learn how the various organs of the body interact with one another and how they contribute to the overall physiology of the body.
Instrumentation Room included with analtical equipment like Polarimeter,Spectrophotometer,Nephelo Turbiditymeter, Flamephotometer, Potentiometer,Conductivitymeter, digitalphoto Colorimeter,DigitalFluorimeter ,HPLC, multi-station Franz diffusion cell assembly, Brookfield Viscometer.
The Microbiology and Biotechnology Labs are equipped with Autoclaves, BOD Incubators, Microtome Blade and Laminar Air Flow etc. The primary objective of these labs is to provide practical exposure to Undergraduates and Research Students on techniques of tissue culture, sterilization, antibiotic assay, microbial Screening, microbial sensitivity, microbial resistance, etc.
The Medicinal Chemistry Labs are well equipped with sophisticated instruments like HPLC, UV Spectrophotometer 1800 (Shimadzu), Karl Fischer Titrator, Gel Electrophoresis (Genei) etc. The students will be exposed to analyze the organic and inorganic compounds as per Pharmacopoeial Standards along with practical experience for synthesizing Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients etc.
